Fire & Ice

A blog about Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn; two women who represented class, elegance, beauty, talent, and humanity. I hope you love, appreciate, and adore them as much as I do. New posts every Fridays and Saturdays.

Prince Rainier and Princess Grace’s 57th Wedding Anniversary | April 18, 1956

Lovers, the two were also friends. Despite all the differences in background and taste, they liked being together.

When Maureen King left their service (in 1965), she gave in to the temptation to write a memoir. In it she described watching Grace and Rainier walk “hand in hand in the garden, … A picture of vibrant happiness,” or finding them sitting together on the sofa in the salon, where they “reminded me of young lovers.”
